Cable purpose and compatibility

This Thunderbolt 3 USB-C cable carries data, video and power over a single 1 metre link. It connects any Thunderbolt 3 host to displays, docks or storage devices with a USB-C connector. The cable supports 20 Gbps throughput and 4K 60 Hz video output.

Who benefits and who does not

Users who need one cable for charging, high-speed data and external monitors will find it convenient. Builds that rely on USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 Type-A ports cannot use this cable. Buyers who want more storage or additional ports should look at a dock instead.

Deciding specification

The 20 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 rating determines whether the cable matches your host and peripheral requirements. If your devices only support 10 Gbps USB 3.1, the extra bandwidth will not be used.
