An Eaton-style trigger switch with a large button for high-rated miter and chop saws, sold individually to replace worn mechanical internals
The Superior Electric SW38A is an aftermarket trigger switch built in the Eaton style with a large button. It serves as a direct replacement for worn or failed switches in higher-rated table and power tools such as miter saws and chop saws. The part is sold individually and fits many branded tools including Makita, Milwaukee, DeWalt and Bosch. It restores on/off, variable speed and electric braking functions.
The switch uses mechanical internals to handle electrical polarity reversal for braking and speed control. Normal operation produces no audible fan noise and draws no standalone power beyond the tool's own circuit. Heat generation is limited to the contact resistance within the tool's existing wiring. No additional cooling or power supply considerations apply.
This switch replaces original equipment triggers that have degraded from repeated mechanical cycling. The upgrade is worth it when the tool exhibits intermittent starting, loss of variable speed or failed electric braking. It is not for buyers who need a complete tool rebuild or a switch with a different form factor. The part restores factory function at a lower cost than OEM equivalents.

Disconnect power, remove the tool housing, note the original wire positions on the switch terminals, fit the new Eaton-style switch in the same orientation, reconnect each wire to the matching terminal, then reassemble; the step most often done wrong is reversing the wire order, which makes variable speed or electric braking fail.
The mechanical contacts inside the switch wear with use, so the part itself is the item that will eventually need replacement; no separate consumable or service interval is required.
Heat buildup in the switch contacts is the first limiting factor during sustained operation on miter saws or chop saws, causing contact degradation and eventual loss of on/off or variable-speed function.
