Four-port 10GbE SFP+ controller

The Supermicro AOC-STG-I4S adds four 10GbE SFP+ ports to a server through a single expansion slot. It is built for administrators who need high-density optical connectivity for storage or virtualisation traffic. The card supports 10GBase-X networking over fibre media.

Optical SFP+ limits reach and cost

Each port requires a compatible SFP+ transceiver and matching fibre patch cable, which are not included. Maximum link distance depends on the specific optics chosen and the fibre type deployed. Copper direct-attach cables are not supported by this SFP+-only interface.

Questions about this item

How do I decide between a four-port 10GbE SFP+ card and a dual-port alternative?

Choose the four-port version when you need more simultaneous 10 Gbps links — for example, separate storage, backup and VM networks — without occupying additional PCIe slots.

What does the 10GBase-X rating mean for cabling and switch compatibility?

It indicates 10 Gbps Ethernet over SFP+ optics, so you can use standard SFP+ transceivers and patch cables with any switch that supports 10GBase-SR, -LR or compatible optical modules.
