Mini-ITX server board with Xeon D-1541

The Supermicro MBD-X10SDV-TLN4F-O integrates an eight-core Xeon D-1541 processor in an FCBGA 1667 socket on a 6.7" square Mini-ITX PCB. Four DDR4 slots accept up to 128 GB of ECC RDIMM or 64 GB of ECC and non-ECC UDIMM at speeds of 2133, 1866 and 1600 MHz. A single PCIe 3.0 x16 slot and an M.2 M-key socket provide internal expansion.

Verify chassis clearance and power delivery

Confirm the case accepts a 6.7" by 6.7" board and that the CPU cooler mounting pattern matches the FCBGA 1667 socket. The board requires a 12 V DC input or a standard ATX power source; ensure your power supply has the appropriate connector. Memory modules must be DDR4 ECC RDIMM or UDIMM; other generations will not fit. Four DIMM slots are available, so plan capacity accordingly.

Soldered processor and dense rear I/O

The Xeon D-1541 is soldered directly to the board, so no processor upgrade is possible. Rear I/O includes two 10GBase-T RJ45 ports, two gigabit RJ45 ports, a dedicated IPMI LAN port, a VGA connector and two USB 3.0 ports. Six SATA 6.0 Gb/s ports and internal USB 2.0 headers support storage and peripherals. A TPM 1.2 header, GPIO and SMbus headers are also present for platform management.

Questions about this item

Does the MBD-X10SDV-TLN4F-O include the Xeon D-1541 processor and memory, or must they be purchased separately?

The board ships with the Intel Xeon D-1541 already soldered to the FCBGA 1667 socket. You must supply up to four DDR4 ECC RDIMM modules for a maximum of 128 GB, or ECC / non-ECC UDIMM modules for a maximum of 64 GB.

Which DDR4 capacity should I choose for the four DIMM slots — 128 GB with RDIMM or 64 GB with UDIMM?

Use ECC RDIMM modules to reach the full 128 GB limit across the four slots. If you prefer UDIMM, the ceiling is 64 GB total. Both types run at 2133, 1866 or 1600 MHz and require 1.2 V.

What real-world throughput can I expect from the dual 10 GbE ports once the board is installed in a server?

The two 10GBase-T RJ45 ports connect through the SoC, providing up to 10 Gb/s per port for storage or cluster traffic, while the dual Intel I350-AM2 Gigabit ports handle management or backup networks.
