Gen 3 NVMe Tray for Ryzen Boards

The Supermicro MCP-220-00167-0B is a tool-less carrier that accepts a single 2.5-inch NVMe drive. It is designed for server builders who want fast, hot-swap storage on a motherboard that supports AMD Ryzen processors. The tray locks into a compatible backplane without screws or caddies.

Fits 2.5-inch Bays on Supermicro Chassis

Installation requires a Supermicro chassis with a Gen 3 backplane that provides the NVMe signal path and power. The tray frees up internal cabling by connecting the drive directly to the backplane connector. Builders without a matching Gen 3 backplane or 2.5-inch hot-swap bay cannot use this tray.

Questions about this item

How much clearance does the MCP-220-00167-0B tray need inside a 2.5-inch bay?

The tray fits a standard 2.5-inch NVMe drive and uses a tool-less latch, so it occupies the normal drive-slot depth without extra brackets.

Does the metal tray act as a heatsink for the NVMe drive during continuous operation?

The aluminium body conducts heat away from the drive, helping to keep temperatures lower than a plastic caddy would.
