HP Z4 Z6 G4 Workstation Power Supply

This 1000W unit is built for HP Z4 and Z6 G4 workstations. It replaces the original D15-1K0P1A module using part number 851383-001. The supply delivers the rated wattage through the workstation's native connector layout. IT technicians and system integrators use it to restore power capacity in these specific chassis.

Thermals Noise and Power Draw

The supply operates within the thermal envelope defined for the Z4 and Z6 G4 platforms. Fan speed is managed by the workstation's own fan-control logic, so acoustic output matches the system's standard profile. Power draw at the wall scales with the installed components up to the 1000W rating. No external fan curves or manual adjustments are required.

Questions about this item

How do I install the D15-1K0P1A power supply into an HP Z4 or Z6 G4 workstation, and what step is often missed?

Slide the unit into the chassis until the latch clicks, then connect the main 24-pin and CPU power cables; the step often missed is securing the retention screw that locks the supply in place.

What maintenance will the 1000W server power supply need over its service life?

Clean the intake vents and fan blades periodically with compressed air to maintain airflow; replace the unit if the fan develops bearing noise or if the system experiences unexpected shutdowns under load.
