Replacement unit for IBM System x servers

This new server power supply is built for IBM X3650 M2, X3650 M3 and X3550 systems. It matches part numbers 39Y7236, 39Y7222 and 39Y7228. The unit delivers 460W or 675W output depending on the host configuration. It is intended for administrators restoring power redundancy or replacing a failed module in supported rackmount servers.

Hot-plug compatible module with dual ratings

The supply installs directly into the server's hot-swap bay without tools or extra cables. Its dual 460W and 675W ratings allow the same spare to cover multiple chassis configurations. Buyers needing a different form factor, higher wattage or non-IBM pinout should select another model.

Questions about this item

When will the internal fan in this 460W 675W supply need replacement?

The fan is a sealed assembly rated for continuous server duty; plan on swapping the whole unit when airflow drops or bearing noise appears.

What thermal limit throttles this 39Y7236 supply first under sustained load?

The 675 W peak rating is the ceiling — exceeding it trips over-current protection and shuts the rail down.
