850W 2U server power supply

The Supersuperuncle GW-EPS2U850W is a new 850W server power supply designed for 2U chassis installations. It targets system integrators and IT administrators building or maintaining rack-mounted servers that require this specific form factor and power rating.

Practical limits of the 2U form factor

The 2U height restricts internal component layout and airflow compared with taller units. This constraint limits the maximum power density and cooling capacity available within the chassis, so the 850W rating is bound by the physical space allocated for the supply.

How it compares

Questions about this item

Should I choose this 850W unit or a lower-wattage model for my 2U chassis?

Select the 850W model if your components' combined peak draw approaches that figure; a lower-wattage unit risks shutdown under load.

What does the 850W rating mean once the supply is installed in a server?

It indicates the maximum continuous DC power the unit can deliver to the motherboard, drives and add-in cards under normal operating conditions.
