The Syba SI-PEX15038 adds four RS-232 DB-9 ports to a desktop through a single PCI Express x1 slot using a WCH384L controller. It targets users who still operate legacy industrial equipment, point-of-sale hardware or older modems that require native serial connections.

Fan-out cable and low-profile bracket

A 10-inch DB44-to-4-DB9 fan-out cable breaks the single card connector into four separate ports for easy routing. The included low-profile bracket lets the card fit in slim chassis, while a driver CD and manual cover Windows 98 through Windows 8, Linux kernels 2.4 and 2.6, and Mac OS 10.4 or later.

Plug-in card with 16 Mbps throughput

The card conforms to the PCI Express 1.0a specification with a x1 lane interface and supports D1, D2, D3 hot and D3 cold power states. Data moves at up to 16 Mbps per port. Buyers who need more than four serial ports or a different host interface such as USB or PCI will need another solution.
