Tan surface-protection tape

Tapecase 204-5 is a 1-1/2 inch wide by 36 yard long polytetrafluoroethylene film tape with a silicone adhesive. The 6.5 mil thickness provides a thin yet durable barrier for masking and surface protection. It withstands temperatures up to 500 degrees Fahrenheit during use.

Replaces standard masking tapes

This film-backed tape upgrades from paper or cloth masking tapes that fail at high heat or leave adhesive residue. The jump is worth it when a clean release after thermal exposure is required and when chemical resistance of the PTFE backing matters.

Suits high-temperature masking

It suits paint-bake cycles, powder-coating masking and composite lay-up operations needing a thin conformable film. Buyers who need a lower temperature rating or a heavier adhesive build should look at something else.

Questions about this item

What width and thickness does the 204-5 tape have for fitting dispensers or rollers?

The tape measures 1-1/2 inches wide and 6.5 mil thick, so it fits standard dispensers sized for that width and film gauge.

How do you apply the silicone-adhesive PTFE film tape without trapping air bubbles?

Unroll the tan 204-5 tape onto a clean, dry surface and press firmly with a roller or squeegee from the centre outward to remove trapped air.

When should the 6.5 mil PTFE tape be replaced after high-temperature exposure?

Replace the tape if the tan backing discolours, the silicone adhesive loses tack, or the film tears after prolonged use near its 500 °F limit.
