Targus SafePort THD500GL folio case

The Targus SafePort THD500GL is a folio-style carrying case built for the 10.2 inch Apple iPad 7th Generation. It combines a thermoplastic polyurethane and silicone interior with a polycarbonate shell and neoprene hand strap. The construction targets drop resistance, shock absorption and slip resistance in a single black unit. Weighing 1.3500 it suits mobile professionals who need rugged daily protection.

Protection limits of a folio design

A folio wraps the screen and back but leaves the edges exposed when the cover is open. The TPU and polycarbonate layers absorb impact from typical drops onto hard surfaces, yet they cannot seal against dust, water or pressure applied directly to the ports. The fixed hand strap aids grip but does not replace a dedicated shoulder strap for extended carry. Users who work in wet, dusty or high-vibration environments should consider a fully sealed enclosure instead.

Upgrade from basic sleeves and snap-on shells

This case replaces thin fabric sleeves and rigid snap-on shells that lack screen coverage or multi-material shock damping. The jump is worth it when the tablet moves between bags, vehicles and desks several times a day and screen scratches or corner dents are a recurring cost. If the device stays in a fixed dock or a padded compartment most of the time the extra bulk and weight may not be justified.
