Compatibility & Fit

This Broadcom BCM94360CD add-on card targets owners of the 2013 21.5-inch or 27-inch iMac needing a direct replacement Wi-Fi and Bluetooth module. It uses the Apple-specific mini PCI-E interface and four-antenna design that matches the original factory part. Installers running Windows 7 64-bit through Windows 10 or macOS 10.85 and later gain native driver support without extra software.

Who Should Look Elsewhere

Buyers whose systems lack the proprietary Apple mini PCI-E slot or the four-antenna connector cannot install this card. Machines requiring a standard half-height PCIe bracket, M.2 keyed slot, or external USB interface will find no mechanical or electrical fit. The Bluetooth 4.0 controller also does not satisfy applications demanding newer Bluetooth specifications.

Deciding Specification

The card delivers a combined 1200 Mbps wireless rate split between 450 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 1300 Mbps on the 5 GHz band under the 802.11ac standard. If your network infrastructure and antenna setup can utilise both bands simultaneously, this throughput figure confirms the upgrade path; if only single-band 2.4 GHz operation is possible, the effective speed drops to 450 Mbps.

Questions about this item

How much heat or noise does the BCM94360CD generate when running all day?

The BCM94360CD is a passive mini PCI-E card with no fan, so it produces no audible noise and negligible heat during continuous operation.

What slot and antenna setup must my system already have for this card to work?

Your board needs a mini PCI-E slot wired for Wi-Fi and four U.FL antenna connectors to match the BCM94360CD's four-antenna design.

Will the BCM94360CD work alongside the original Wi-Fi card in a 2013 21.5-inch iMac?

Yes, the BCM94360CD is built for 2013 21.5-inch iMacs and replaces the factory card directly, using the same Apple-specific interface and antenna wiring.
