Adds two USB 3.0 ports via a PCI Express slot for up to 5 Gbps data transfer
This TeKit add-on card installs in a PCI Express slot to provide two external USB 3.0 connections for desktops that lack them. It targets system builders and upgraders who need SuperSpeed ports for external drives, docks or high-bandwidth peripherals. The card is not suited for users who require internal headers, more than two ports or a different slot form factor.
Each port operates at the USB 3.0 signalling rate of 5 Gbps with a dedicated PCI Express 2.0 lane, so bandwidth is not shared between the two connectors. The xHCI Revision 0.95 controller maintains full speed during long transfers without throttling back to USB 2.0 rates. It does not deliver the 10 Gbps ceiling of USB 3.1 or 3.2, so workloads that saturate 5 Gbps will hit the interface limit.
The card plugs into a PCI Express 2.0 slot and is electrically limited to that generation’s single-lane throughput, which matches the 5 Gbps USB 3.0 maximum. It complies with the USB 3.0 Interface Specification and remains backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 devices at their native speeds. Systems without a free PCI Express slot or those restricted to PCI Express 1.x cannot use the card at its rated performance.

The card can provide more power when needed and automatically reduce power consumption when not needed, so it only draws extra power while devices are actively charging or transferring data.
A single PCI Express slot compatible with the PCI Express 2.0 bus specification is required for installation.
Yes, the card is backward compatible with USB 2.0 and 1.1 specifications, so existing peripherals will function normally on the USB 3.0 ports.
