VGA-to-RJ45 Extender Pair

This two-pack converts a 15-pin HD-15 VGA output to an RJ45 female socket so the signal can travel over CAT5 or CAT6 Ethernet cable. Each adapter measures 5.4 cm by 3.4 cm by 1.5 cm and uses copper conductors. The converters are passive and require a separate Ethernet cable to complete the link.

Suits short-range VGA bridging

Ideal for installers who need to run a VGA signal up to 66 ft (20 m) between a PC, laptop, DVR or games console and a display with a VGA input. Not suited for runs beyond 66 ft, for HDMI or DisplayPort sources, or for buyers who expect an active booster or included Ethernet cable in the box.

66 ft maximum over CAT5/6

The adapter pair supports transmission distances up to 66 ft (approximately 20 meters) when used with CAT5, CAT6 or shielded CAT5 cable. Picture quality varies with cable length and the chosen resolution, so the 66 ft figure is the practical limit for deciding if this extender fits the installation.

Questions about this item

Does the 2-pack include the CAT5 or CAT6 cable needed to reach 66ft, or must I buy that separately?

The package contains only the two VGA male to RJ45 female adapters; the Ethernet cable is not included and must be purchased separately.

Should I use CAT5 or CAT6 cable for the best picture quality at 20 meters?

The manufacturer recommends CAT6 or shielded CAT5 for the best performance over the full 20 metre distance.

What resolution can I expect when running a 66ft CAT6 link between my PC and projector?

Picture quality depends on the cable length and the resolution you choose to transmit; the adapter itself does not set a fixed resolution limit.
