Tesa 51618 wire harness tape

Tesa 51618 is a PET fleece tape designed for wire harness covering in vehicle passenger compartments. It provides noise damping, abrasion resistance and bundling strength while keeping harnesses flexible for easier assembly. The rubber-based adhesive is optimised for manual application during installation or repair work.

Rubber adhesive for manual use

The rubber-based adhesive allows the tape to be applied by hand without special tools or heat equipment. It sticks reliably to the PET fleece backing and conforms to irregular harness shapes during wrapping. This makes the product practical for on-site repairs or low-volume assembly where automated machinery is not available.

PET fleece durability and flexibility

The PET fleece backing resists abrasion and dampens vibration noise inside the cabin while remaining pliable enough to follow tight bends. Its flexibility helps maintain harness integrity through temperature changes and vehicle movement. The black colour matches standard automotive loom for a consistent appearance.

Questions about this item

Will the PET fleece backing degrade or need replacing after extended heat cycles?

The PET fleece carrier is designed for passenger-compartment harnesses and resists abrasion while staying flexible, so it does not require scheduled replacement.

What fails first when the tape is wrapped continuously on a long harness run?

The practical limit is the 82 ft roll length; once the roll is used a new one must be started.

Does the rubber-based adhesive soften or emit odour when the harness runs hot all day?

The adhesive is formulated for interior automotive use and maintains bond strength at typical cabin temperatures without noticeable outgassing.
