18 AWG speaker wire for audio installs

This 18 AWG stranded cable uses copper-clad aluminium conductors and comes on a 500-foot spool. The white jacket helps identify polarity during routing. It is intended for car audio, home theatre or general automotive wiring jobs. The length suits whole-vehicle or multi-room runs.

Spool format simplifies long pulls

Supplied on a single spool, the cable pays out cleanly without tangles when threading through doors, dashboards or wall cavities. The stranded construction bends around tight corners more easily than solid-core alternatives. White insulation makes positive and negative legs easy to distinguish at a glance.

Copper-clad aluminium conductor

The conductor is copper-clad aluminium rather than pure copper, so resistance per foot is higher than an equivalent-gauge OFC cable. Buyers who need the lowest possible voltage drop over very long runs should verify the material meets their system's current demands.

Questions about this item

Does the copper-clad aluminium conductor need any special treatment or periodic replacement?

CCA wire does not require scheduled replacement; keep connections tight and protect the jacket from abrasion or moisture to maintain performance.

What limits the usable length of the 18 AWG CCA cable on long runs?

Resistance rises with length, so voltage drop becomes the practical limit; keep runs as short as the 500 ft spool allows for the load you are driving.

Does the white jacket get hot or add noise when the wire carries audio current all day?

The stranded CCA conductor stays cool at normal speaker levels and adds no audible noise; the jacket simply insulates and identifies the cable.
