  • Weather-resistant build withstands rain, snow, salt, ice and pool chemicals
  • Upward-angled drivers project sound toward listeners at a 20-degree angle
  • 8-inch Poly Mica woofers with butyl rubber surrounds deliver deep, durable bass
  • Ferrofluid-cooled soft dome tweeters produce clear high frequencies up to 20 kHz
  • Passive design connects directly to any 10-250 W home audio receiver

Outdoor Rock Speaker Pair

The Theater Solutions 2R8S set includes two sandstone-finish rock enclosures designed for permanent outdoor placement. Each cabinet houses an 8 inch poly mica woofer and a ferro fluid cooled soft dome tweeter angled twenty degrees upward toward the listening area. The speakers are passive and require a separate home audio receiver or amplifier.

Wired Installation With CL3 Cable

Installation consists of splicing the supplied six inch leads to CL3 rated raw speaker wire and running it to the amplifier. Use sixteen gauge wire for runs under forty feet and fourteen gauge for longer distances. The cabinets are multi-layer composite, silicone sealed and fitted with rust resistant steel grilles to withstand rain, snow, salt, ice and pool chemicals.

Passive System Limits

The speakers present an eight ohm load and deliver ninety seven dB sensitivity with a frequency response of fifty Hz to twenty kHz. They must be driven by an amplifier supplying ten to two hundred fifty watts per channel. No wireless connectivity, built-in amplification or battery operation is provided, so buyers needing cable-free or portable audio should consider other solutions.

Questions about this item

How can I confirm the 2R8S speakers are performing correctly after connecting them to my receiver?

Play audio through the receiver and verify sound is clear from both the 8 inch poly mica woofers and the ferro fluid cooled soft dome tweeters angled 20 degrees upward; the system should cover 50Hz-20 kHz at 97dB sensitivity.

What comes in the box and which cables must I purchase separately?

The box includes two passive rock speakers and an instruction manual; you must buy CL3 rated raw speaker wire — 16 gauge for runs under 40 feet, 14 gauge for runs over 40 feet.

Which version or capacity of the 2R8S should I choose for my yard?

The 2R8S is sold as a single two-speaker set with 8 inch woofers and 10-250 watts per channel handling; choose it if you need a pair of sandstone rock speakers for deck, pool, garden or spa areas.
