Outdoor Cat6 cable for direct burial

This Thinkstar Cat6 cable is built for outdoor and underground runs. It uses a UV-resistant jacket rated for sun, rain, frost and direct burial in soil. The 100-foot length comes with 25 cable ties for securing the run along walls or conduit.

24 AWG CCA conductors with 550 MHz bandwidth

Four twisted pairs of 24 AWG copper-clad aluminium carry data at up to 10 Gbps over the rated frequency. The unshielded design keeps the cable flexible for pulling through tight spaces while maintaining backward compatibility with Cat5e and Cat5 equipment.

Suits installers needing a long external link

Home owners and small-business installers running a single 100-foot drop to an outbuilding, camera or second router will find the length and ties convenient. Buyers who need shielded cable for high-interference routes or a different length should look at other options.

Questions about this item

Will the UV-resistant jacket need replacement after long sun exposure?

The jacket is built for UV and rain protection and is more durable than regular PVC, so it is intended to last through extended outdoor use without scheduled replacement.

What speed limit appears first when the cable runs at its 550 MHz rating over 100 ft?

The cable supports up to 10 Gbps at 550 MHz, so the 10 Gbps ceiling is the first limit you reach under sustained high-throughput use.

Does the CCA conductor run hotter than solid copper during all-day PoE loads?

The 24 AWG CCA conductors carry the same current as equivalent copper at this gauge, so heat rise under continuous PoE is comparable and stays within normal operating temperatures.
