Thinkstar

Thinkstar Cat6 Outdoor Ethernet Cable 150ft

SKU CH-KB2J-EJ2Q6

A 150 ft Cat6 outdoor cable rated for 1000 Mbps and 250 MHz bandwidth with a UV-resistant, waterproof jacket suitable for direct burial

  • Supports 1000 Mbps data transfer for fast gaming and streaming
  • 250 MHz bandwidth provides 2.5× the capacity of Cat5e
  • UV-resistant LLDPE jacket protects against sun damage and weather
  • Double-layer construction with PVC inner jacket resists moisture and cold
  • Burial-rated design allows direct underground installation for permanent runs

Outdoor Cat6 cable for direct burial

This 150ft shielded Ethernet cord is built for permanent outdoor installation. The UV-resistant LLDPE outer jacket and PVC inner jacket protect the conductors from sunlight, moisture and temperature extremes. It is intended for runs between buildings, to exterior cameras or any buried pathway.

Practical limits of Cat6 250 MHz bandwidth

The cable supports up to 1000Mbps data transfer at 250MHz bandwidth. These figures represent the standard ceiling for Cat6; longer runs or tight bends can reduce real-world throughput. Shielding and grounding help reject interference, but the 100-metre channel limit still applies.

Upgrade from Cat5 or Cat5e links

Replacing a 100MHz Cat5e line with this 250MHz Cat6 cable raises the bandwidth ceiling 2.5 times and the speed ceiling 10 times to 1000Mbps. The jump is worth it when you need Gigabit reliability outdoors or plan to bury the cable directly without conduit.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 150 ft length or a shorter run for my outdoor install?

Choose the length that reaches your devices with a little slack; the 150 ft reel covers long garden or driveway runs while shorter rolls reduce excess cable.

What does the 1000 Mbps rating mean once the cable is buried in the ground?

It delivers up to 1 Gbps throughput at 250 MHz bandwidth, so gaming, 4K streaming and large downloads run at full wired speed outdoors.

How does the RJ45 connector and Cat6 standard cap real-world performance?

The shielded RJ45 plugs mate with any Cat6, Cat5e or Cat5 port, limiting the link to 1 Gbps and 250 MHz — the cable will not bottleneck a 2.5 Gbps or 10 Gbps port.
