What Chronos: Before The Ashes Is

Chronos: Before The Ashes is an atmospheric RPG for Xbox One that follows a hero's lifelong quest to save their homeland from a great evil. Players explore a mysterious labyrinth where the character grows wiser and more powerful with each attempt. The game is brand new and suited for fans of methodical role-playing adventures.

How The Labyrinth Penalises Death

The labyrinth exacts a heavy toll whenever the hero dies by removing a year from their life. This ageing mechanic forces players to weigh every encounter carefully because repeated failure permanently reduces the time available to complete the quest. Success depends on learning enemy patterns and managing resources across a single, continuous lifetime.

The Core Mechanic That Defines The Experience

The defining specification is the ageing penalty that advances the hero one year per death. Buyers who want a traditional RPG with unlimited retries or quick-save convenience should look elsewhere, because this design makes every mistake permanent and ties progression directly to the character's remaining lifespan.
