Collectible Radial Ball Bearing

The Timken 9108K is a new radial ball bearing presented as a sports memorabilia collectible. It carries industry number 6008 and features a 40 mm bore diameter with an open closure design. The component uses alloy steel for both rings and balls with a steel cage.

Open Bearing For Display Or Light Assembly

The open closure means no seals or shields are fitted, so the rolling elements are visible for display purposes. An outside diameter of 68 mm and outer ring width of 15 mm define its envelope. Metric dimensions and ABEC 1 rating suit general-purpose fits without precision preload requirements.

Upgrade From Sealed Or Lower-Grade Units

Collectors seeking visible bearing internals gain an open alloy steel assembly with 19 617 N dynamic radial load capacity. Buyers who need sealed contamination protection or higher precision ratings will not find those features here. The jump is worth it when display authenticity or open lubrication access matters.

Questions about this item

What dynamic radial load can the 6008 bearing sustain continuously?

The dynamic radial load capacity is 19,617 N, which is the key limit that appears first under sustained use.

How much heat does the open steel cage generate during all-day operation?

With ABEC 1 tolerance and steel-on-steel contact, the open design runs warm but relies on external lubrication to manage heat.

Which shaft diameter must I already have for the 40 mm bore to fit?

The bore diameter is 40 mm with a tolerance of +0/-0.012 mm, so the shaft must match that metric size.
