Dual-Band Wi-Fi 6 Mesh Access Point

The TP-Link HX510-PoE is a dual-band wireless access point built on the Wi-Fi 6 standard. It delivers a combined data rate of 2.93 Gbit/s and supports IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax protocols. Power over Ethernet simplifies installation by removing the need for a local power outlet. It is designed to extend mesh coverage throughout a home or small office.

Suits PoE Mesh Builders; Not Standalone Routers

This unit suits installers who want to add a mesh node using existing Ethernet cabling and a PoE switch. Buyers needing a standalone router with WAN routing, NAT or a built-in modem should look elsewhere. It also does not serve clients who require a desktop form factor or an external power adapter in the box.

AX3000 Class Combined Throughput

The decisive figure is the AX3000 class rating, which represents the 2.93 Gbit/s aggregate wireless throughput across both bands. This number determines whether the access point can handle the intended client density and bandwidth demand for a whole-home mesh deployment.

Questions about this item

Does the HX510-PoE include a PoE injector or do I need to buy one?

The unit receives power over its Ethernet port from a PoE switch or injector; neither is included in the box.

Which model variant should I choose for a 3000 sq ft home?

The AX3000 rating covers the combined 2.93 Gbit/s wireless throughput; one unit serves that area, add more for mesh expansion.

What does the 2.93 Gbit/s figure mean for actual file transfers?

It is the maximum aggregate Wi-Fi 6 link rate; real-world throughput will be lower due to overhead and client capabilities.
