Extends WiFi 6 coverage to 1500 sq ft with dual-band speeds up to 1.5 Gbps, a gigabit Ethernet port and OneMesh compatibility
The TP-Link RE505X is a dual-band wireless range extender built on WiFi 6 technology. It targets households that need to push a reliable signal into rooms the main router cannot reach. The unit supports up to 25 connected devices across both bands.
Two adjustable external antennas provide the high-gain coverage quoted at 1500 sq. ft. A single gigabit ethernet port allows a wired device such as a smart TV or games console to join the extended network at full line speed. The extender draws 10 W and measures 2.90" x 1.80" x 4.90", so it plugs directly into a wall socket without blocking the adjacent outlet.
OneMesh roaming works only with compatible TP-Link routers such as the Archer A7; other brands will fall back to a separate extended SSID. Setup uses the Tether app on Android or iOS, so a smartphone is required for initial configuration. The device adds wireless capacity but cannot increase the broadband speed delivered by your ISP.

The port provides a 1 Gbps wired connection for devices such as smart TVs or game consoles, while the WiFi 6 link runs at up to 1201 Mbps on 5 GHz and 300 Mbps on 2.4 GHz.
The extender measures 2.90" wide, 1.80" deep and 4.90" high with two adjustable external antennas that fold flat for tight sockets.
After the extender joins the host WiFi, the app asks you to confirm or rename the extended SSIDs; skipping this leaves the new network invisible to your devices.
