Controls two computers from one 4K@60Hz monitor with three USB 3.0 ports and wired remote switching
The TRENDnet 7235 lets you control two computers from a single 4K@60Hz monitor, keyboard and mouse. Three USB 3.0 ports share peripherals such as drives, printers or scanners between both systems. Switching is handled by a wired remote or front-panel buttons, with no hotkey option. The unit draws power from the connected computers and requires no external adapter.
Instead of unplugging HDMI and USB leads each time you change machines, this switch keeps everything connected and selects the active PC in seconds. The jump is worth it when you regularly move between a desktop and a laptop, or between work and personal rigs, and want a single monitor and USB set-up. It does not suit users who need hotkey switching, ultra-wide display support or more than two computer ports.
Video tops out at 4K@60Hz, so higher refresh rates or 8K signals will not pass through. The computer connections use USB 2.0, which caps peripheral bandwidth below what USB 3.0 devices can deliver. Switching a 4K@60Hz screen typically blanks the display for five to seven seconds, while 1080p@60Hz takes roughly three to five seconds. No external power input means the switch cannot boost signal strength for long cable runs.

Plug each PC's HDMI output and USB 2.0 cable into the corresponding computer ports, then connect the single monitor to the console HDMI port; the frequent error is swapping the HDMI and USB cables between the two computer ports, which breaks switching.
The HDMI and USB 3.0 cables linking the PCs to the switch are the consumable items; the switch itself draws power from the USB 2.0 computer connections and has no internal battery or fan to service.
