Control four computers with one keyboard, monitor, mouse, microphone and speakers at 2048 x 1536 resolution using included cables
The TRENDnet TK-409K lets you control four computers from a single VGA monitor, USB keyboard, USB mouse, microphone and speaker set. It is designed for administrators or power users who need to manage multiple PCs without swapping cables. The switch includes all required cabling and draws power from the USB connections, so no external adapter is needed. It supports Windows, Linux and Mac OS environments.
Instead of maintaining four keyboards, mice, monitors and audio peripherals, this kit consolidates them into one workstation. The jump is worth it when desk space is limited or when you need to switch between systems quickly using front-panel buttons, hotkeys or the auto-scan function. It also allows audio from one computer to play while you work on another, reducing the need for duplicate speaker sets.
Each target computer must provide a VGA video output and USB ports for keyboard and mouse signals; the switch connects to these with the supplied cables. The console side requires one VGA display, one USB keyboard, one USB mouse, a microphone and speakers. Because the unit is USB powered, it frees up a mains socket and reduces cable clutter behind the desk.

The switch uses a VGA port for the monitor and USB ports for the keyboard and mouse, all located on the front panel.
Plug each supplied KVM cable into a computer's VGA, USB, microphone and speaker jacks; the step often missed is connecting the audio plugs for microphone and speaker sharing.
No external power adapter is required because the unit draws power from the USB connections, and there are no firmware updates to manage.
