CAT5 KVM Server Interface Module
The TRENDnet TK-CAT5P connects a compatible CAT5 KVM switch to a single computer using PS/2 and VGA ports. It acts as the required server-side interface module for managing a system remotely over twisted-pair cabling. One unit is needed for each computer attached to the switch.
CAT5, 5e and 6 cable support
The module handles standard Category 5, 5e and 6 patch cables between the switch and the computer. It provides the necessary signal conversion for keyboard, video and mouse data over these cable types. Distance limits and bandwidth ceiling depend on the switch and cable grade used, not on this module alone.
Passive operation with no external power
The unit draws operating power from the connected PS/2 and VGA ports, so no separate power adapter is required. It adds negligible heat or acoustic noise to the rack or desk environment. Power consumption is limited to the low-current signalling lines of the host interfaces.
