Power and connectivity

The TRENDnet TPE-147GI adds Power over Ethernet Plus to an existing non-PoE Gigabit switch. It provides four Gigabit data input ports and four Gigabit data plus PoE+ output ports. A 65W total power budget delivers up to 30W per port for compatible devices. The fanless metal housing ensures silent operation and lower energy consumption.

This injector suits network managers who need to power up to four PoE or PoE+ devices such as wireless access points or IP cameras from a standard switch. It supports cable runs up to 100 metres (328 feet) using standard Ethernet cabling. Builders requiring more than four powered ports or a total PoE budget exceeding 65W should consider a multi-port PoE switch instead.

Deciding specification

The single figure that determines suitability is the 65W PoE power budget shared across the four output ports. If the combined draw of all connected devices stays within this limit, the unit will power them reliably. If the planned deployment needs more total power, this injector cannot meet the requirement.
