Adds a Gigabit Ethernet port and three USB 3.0 ports to USB-C computers running Windows or Mac
The TRENDnet TUC-ETGH3 adds a wired network link and three USB 3.0 ports to a Windows or Mac computer through a single USB-C connection. It supports IEEE 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3ab, 802.3x and 802.3az standards for broad compatibility. The flexible cable eases placement on crowded desks. Backward compatibility extends to USB 2.0 and 1.1 peripherals.
Bus-powered operation draws energy directly from the host port without an external supply. No active cooling is present so the unit runs silently during file transfers or streaming. The aluminium-style casing passively dissipates heat generated by the Gigabit controller and USB hub logic. Typical use stays well within standard USB-C power limits.
The adapter can wake a suspended system when a magic packet arrives at the RJ-45 port. This feature works on both Windows and Mac platforms without extra drivers. It is useful for remote access or scheduled maintenance tasks. Buyers who need more than three USB ports or a multi-gigabit link should consider a larger dock.

Plug the USB-C connector into the host computer; the adapter draws power from the port so no external supply is needed. The step often missed is allowing the operating system a few seconds to enumerate the Gigabit Ethernet and three USB 3.0 ports before connecting cables.
No scheduled maintenance is required; the unit has no moving parts or user-replaceable components. If the flexible USB-C cable or any port becomes physically damaged, the whole adapter must be replaced.
The combined throughput of the Gigabit Ethernet link and three USB 3.0 ports shares a single USB-C uplink capped at 5 Gbps, so aggregate traffic above that rate will bottleneck at the host connection.
