Compact 1U rack or tower UPS delivers 500 VA and 400 W of battery backup with six NEMA 5-15R outlets and lithium-ion cells that recharge in eight hours
The Tripp Lite BC500RT1ULNC is a 500VA 400W battery backup that fits in a single rack unit or stands as a tower. It provides six NEMA 5-15R outlets with surge protection and battery support for critical IT gear in network closets and edge sites. Cloud connectivity enables remote monitoring and management from a mobile device. The lithium-ion battery recharges in eight hours.
Under continuous demand the unit delivers its rated 400 watts through a pulse-width modulated sine wave output. Battery runtime at full load is approximately three minutes, giving enough time for graceful shutdowns or generator start-up. The lithium-ion chemistry maintains consistent performance across repeated discharge cycles without the capacity fade common in older battery types. Automatic voltage regulation corrects brownouts and overvoltages without draining the battery.
This UPS replaces basic surge strips or older standby units that lack battery backup and remote management. The jump is worth it when equipment must stay online during short outages and administrators need alerts and control from off-site. It is not suited for loads exceeding 400 watts or for installations requiring extended runtime beyond the three-minute standby window. Wall mounting requires a separate bracket kit.
