What this cable does

The Tripp Lite M100-006-HD is a 6 ft Lightning to USB-A cable built for charging and syncing compatible Apple devices. MFi certification confirms it meets Apple performance standards for iPhone, iPad and iPod models listed in the specifications. Heavy-duty fiber and nylon braiding reinforce the jacket to resist wear from daily handling. The reversible Lightning plug inserts in either orientation for quicker connections.

Who it suits and who it does not

This cable suits owners of iPhone 5 through 8 Plus, iPhone X, iPad 4th and 5th generation, iPad Air, iPad Air 2, iPad mini through mini 4 and compatible iPod models that use the Lightning port. It connects to any standard USB-A port on a computer or wall charger for power and data. Buyers whose devices use USB-C or the older 30-pin connector cannot use this cable. Users who need a shorter or longer reach should choose a different length.

The deciding specification

The Lightning connector on one end and USB-A plug on the other define every use case for this cable. MFi certification guarantees the handshake required for charging and syncing supported Apple hardware. The 6 ft (1.8 m) length sets the maximum distance between the device and the USB-A power or data source. No other single attribute determines whether this cable fits the buyer's setup.
