Cat6 Patch Cable for Gigabit Networks

This seven-foot Category 6 patch cable connects computers, switches, routers or other RJ45-equipped devices in a home or office network. Green jacket colour helps identify the run among other cables. Snagless moulded boots protect the locking tabs during installation and removal. It meets Category 6 performance standards for gigabit Ethernet.

Suited for short indoor links.

The 7 ft length works well for desk-to-wall, patch-panel-to-switch or rack-to-rack connections within a rack or room. Installers who need longer spans, in-wall rated jackets, shielded construction or outdoor-rated cable should select a different product. The cable is terminated with standard RJ45 male plugs on both ends.

7 ft Category 6 length determines reach

At seven feet the cord covers typical workstation or patch-panel distances without excess slack. If the path between devices is longer, a single cable of this model will not reach and a different length is required. The fixed length is the key specification that decides whether this part fits the installation.

Questions about this item

Should I pick the 7 ft green Cat6 or a different length for my desk-to-router run?

Choose the 7 ft green Cat6 when the distance between devices is roughly two metres; the fixed length avoids excess slack and the green jacket makes the link easy to trace.

What does the Cat6 rating deliver when the cable is plugged into a gigabit switch?

The Cat6 construction meets category 6 cabling standards, supporting full gigabit throughput with reduced impedance and structural return loss on a 7 ft run.

How does the RJ45 male connector limit the maximum speed I can use?

Each end uses an RJ45 male connector wired to Cat6 specifications, so the cable caps at the gigabit speeds the connector and category are designed for.
