Black passive twinax copper cable with SFP28 connectors on both ends, five metres long

Tripp Lite

Tripp Lite N28005M28BK SFP28 to SFP28 25GbE Passive Twinax Copper Cable 5m

SKU CH-QJ8V-Y2ZX3 MPN N28005M28BK

A 5 metre passive twinax copper cable linking two SFP28 ports at 25 GbE

  • 25 GbE throughput for high-speed server links
  • Passive twinax design needs no external power
  • SFP28-to-SFP28 connectors fit standard transceiver ports
  • 5 metre reach spans adjacent rack equipment
  • Broad compatibility with SFP-H25G-CU1M pinout

5-metre 25 GbE SFP28 direct-attach cable

This 5-metre passive twinax cable connects two SFP28 ports at 25 GbE without an external power supply. It suits data-centre racks and high-performance workstations that need a short, low-latency link between switches, servers or network cards. The fixed copper construction keeps insertion loss minimal across the full length.

Replaces optical transceivers and patch cords

Swapping a pair of SFP28 optics and a fibre patch cord for this single cable cuts cost, removes a point of failure and reduces rack clutter. The jump is worth it when both ends are within five metres and the link budget allows passive copper instead of active or optical media.

Verify SFP28 port compatibility and reach limits

Confirm that each device accepts passive SFP28 twinax at 25 GbE and that the five-metre reach covers the physical path between ports. Check that the host firmware lists this cable type as supported; some vendors restrict qualified cables to their own part numbers.

Questions about this item

What SFP28 port spacing does the 5 m N28005M28BK cable require for a direct connection?

The cable plugs straight into two SFP28 cages spaced for a 5-metre reach; no adapter or extender is needed.

Which orientation do the SFP28 connectors need during insertion to avoid damaging the latch?

Insert each connector with the pull-tab facing down until the latch clicks; forcing it upside-down bends the release tab.

How can I tell when the passive twinax assembly should be replaced due to signal degradation?

Replace the cable if link errors rise or the 25 GbE connection drops to a lower speed after re-seating both ends.
