Network Switch for Small LANs

The Tripp Lite NGS8C2-1 is an 8-port managed Gigabit Ethernet switch with two SFP uplink ports. It operates at Layer 2 and fits a 1U rack or desktop space. The unit draws 7.55 W and provides a dedicated management port for out-of-band access.

Suited for Simple Managed Deployments

This switch serves small offices or branch sites that need VLANs, QoS and basic security features on copper links with fibre uplinks. Buyers who require Layer 3 routing, PoE power or more than eight copper ports should look elsewhere.

8 RJ45 Ports Plus 2 SFP Uplinks

The combination of eight Gigabit RJ45 ports and two Gigabit SFP ports defines the connectivity ceiling. Confirm that the port count and uplink type match the network design before ordering.

Questions about this item

Will my existing Cat5e patch cables work with the eight Gigabit RJ45 ports on the NGS8C2-1?

Yes, the eight Gigabit RJ45 ports auto-negotiate speed and duplex, so standard Cat5e cables will link at up to 1 Gbps.

Which front-panel LEDs confirm the NGS8C2-1 is operating correctly after power-on?

The power LED shows the unit is on; each port LED lights for link and blinks for activity, while the two SFP port LEDs behave the same way.

Does the NGS8C2-1 ship with SFP transceivers or must I buy them separately?

The switch includes the 1U rack-mount brackets and a power cord; the two SFP uplink ports accept optional transceivers that are sold separately.
