PoE+ power for non-PoE networks

The Tripp Lite NPOE-30W-1G is a Gigabit PoE+ midspan injector that adds 30W of power to a single Ethernet link. It lets you connect a PoE or PoE+ device such as a camera, wireless access point or VoIP phone to a standard non-PoE switch using existing Cat5e, Cat6 or Cat6a cabling. The unit complies with IEEE 802.3at and 802.3af and delivers both power and data up to 328 ft. A detachable 6 ft C13 to NEMA 5-15P power cord is included for immediate plug-and-play operation.

Installers needing one powered port.

This injector suits installers who need to power a single PoE device where no AC outlet exists near the device location. It is not for buyers who need to power multiple devices simultaneously or who require a managed PoE switch with per-port control and monitoring. Networks that already have PoE switching infrastructure will not benefit from adding this midspan unit.

30W total power budget per port

The injector supplies a maximum of 30W to the connected device, which is the defining limit for compatibility. Devices that draw more than 30W cannot be powered by this unit, regardless of cable length or switch capacity. Verify the power requirement of your PoE device against this 30W figure before purchase.

Questions about this item

What IEEE standard does the NPOE-30W-1G injector support and what power limit does it enforce?

The injector complies with IEEE 802.3at and 802.3af, delivering up to 30W of power to a connected PoE+ device.

What mounting options does the compact plastic housing provide for the NPOE-30W-1G?

The hand-sized housing is ready for mounting on any smooth surface, allowing placement on a desk, shelf or wall without a rack.

How is the NPOE-30W-1G installed and what step do users often miss?

Connect the injector between a non-PoE switch and the PoE device using Cat5e/6/6a cable, then plug the detachable C13 to NEMA 5-15P power cord into an AC outlet; the step often missed is ensuring the power cord is fully seated before powering on.
