What this cable does and who needs it

A three‑foot male‑to‑male DisplayPort link that carries digital video and audio between a source and a display. It suits desktop users who want a short, tidy run at a workstation or home‑office desk. Builders needing longer reach or multiple daisy‑chained monitors will need a different length.

Practical limits of the DisplayPort 1.2 interface

The cable is rated for DisplayPort 1.2 and HDCP, enabling 3840 x 2160 resolution at standard refresh rates. It also handles 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz and 1920 x 1200 at 120 Hz. Higher refresh rates at 4K or HDR metadata transport are not supported by this specification.

Build quality and everyday connector behaviour

Black PVC jacket with moulded strain relief and latching DisplayPort plugs on both ends. The latches lock securely yet release with a fingertip squeeze, preventing accidental disconnects during routine desk adjustments. RoHS compliant materials meet environmental standards.

Questions about this item

Should I choose the 3 ft length or a longer cable for my monitor setup?

The 3 ft cable suits short desktop runs between a GPU and a nearby monitor; measure the distance including routing slack before deciding.

What resolution and refresh rate will I actually get at 4K x 2K over this cable?

DisplayPort 1.2 bandwidth caps 3840 x 2160 at 60 Hz; the cable also supports 2560 x 1600 at 60 Hz and 1920 x 1200 at 120 Hz.

Which DisplayPort version does the cable implement and what does that limit?

It implements DisplayPort 1.2, limiting maximum throughput to the rates above and enabling HDCP for protected content playback.
