SmartPro 1200 VA line-interactive UPS
The Tripp Lite SMART1200LCD delivers 1200 VA and 700 W of battery backup for desktop workstations, networking gear and point-of-sale systems. Automatic voltage regulation corrects brownouts and overvoltages between 75 V and 147 V without using battery power. Eight NEMA 5-15R outlets and data-line protection for telephone, DSL and 10/100 Ethernet keep connected equipment running during short outages.
Thermals noise and power draw
Line-interactive topology keeps the unit quiet during normal operation because the inverter only runs when utility power falls outside the AVR window. The sealed valve-regulated lead-acid battery recharges from 10 % to 90 % in less than 4.5 hours. An audible alarm signals power failure, low battery or overload, and the alarm can be silenced through the included PowerAlert software.
What this replaces and when to upgrade
This UPS replaces a basic surge strip by adding battery runtime and voltage regulation for equipment that cannot tolerate even brief interruptions. The 4-minute runtime at 700 W or 12 minutes at 350 W covers graceful shutdowns rather than extended operation. Buyers who need longer runtime or higher wattage for servers and storage arrays should look at larger-capacity units.
How it compares

Questions about this item
How do I install the SMART1200LCD in a rack and what step do people often miss?
Mount the included 2U rack ears, plug the NEMA 5-15P into a 120V circuit, connect loads to the eight 5-15R outlets, then install PowerAlert software via USB or DB-9 to configure the audible alarm and monitoring; skipping the software step leaves the alarm enabled by default.
When will the VRLA battery need replacement and what runtime can I expect when new?
The sealed lead-acid battery typically lasts three to five years; when new it delivers 4 minutes at 700 W or 12 minutes at 350 W, and recharges from 10% to 90% in under 4.5 hours.
What is the first limit reached during a prolonged brownout or heavy load?
The automatic voltage regulation corrects input from 75V to 147V, but if voltage falls below 75V or the load exceeds 700 W the UPS switches to battery, and at full load the battery depletes in 4 minutes.
