Built for server rooms and network closets

The Tripp Lite SMART3000NET is a line-interactive UPS rated at 3000 VA and 2400 watts, designed to keep rack-mounted servers, switches and storage arrays running through outages and voltage fluctuations. Eight NEMA 5-15/5-20 outlets distribute conditioned power, while an RS-232 port enables integration with management software for automated shutdown scripts. RJ-11 data-line protection shields modem, fax or DSL connections from surges.

Thermals and power behaviour

Line-interactive topology corrects brownouts and overvoltages without engaging the battery, so the unit runs quietly and efficiently during normal mains conditions. The internal battery recharges to 90 percent in two to four hours after a discharge event. Surge suppression is rated at 480 joules, and the chassis meets UL 1778, cUL, FCC Class A and NOM approvals for safe continuous operation.

Runtime at your load

At full 3000 VA load the battery provides seven minutes of backup; at half load (1500 VA) it extends to 23 minutes. Adding a single BP24V33 external pack raises those figures to 20 minutes and 53 minutes respectively. Buyers who need longer runtime without extra battery modules should look elsewhere.

Questions about this item

How do I connect the L5-30P plug and where do people trip up?

The unit ships with a NEMA L5-30P input cord that requires a dedicated 30 A circuit; the common mistake is plugging it into a standard 15 A or 20 A receptacle instead of having an electrician install the correct outlet.

Which battery module extends runtime and how often should the internal pack be swapped?

Adding one BP24V33 external battery pack raises full-load runtime to 20 minutes and half-load to 53 minutes; plan to replace the internal sealed lead-acid batteries every three to five years.

At what load does the 7-minute full-load limit appear first during a prolonged outage?

At the full 3000 VA / 2400 W rating the battery lasts only 7 minutes, so sustained draws near that level will hit the runtime ceiling before any thermal or overload protection engages.
