A finished-bore roller chain sprocket with a 7/8 in bore, 26 teeth and black-oxide steel construction
This finished-bore roller chain sprocket transmits rotary motion between a 1/2 in pitch single-strand chain and a 7/8 in shaft. It is intended for maintenance crews and OEM assemblers who need a direct replacement for worn ANSI 40 sprockets on conveyors, packaging lines or agricultural drives.
The sprocket replaces any 26-tooth ANSI 40 sprocket with a 7/8 in bore, a 3 1/4 in hub and a 3/16 in keyway. The jump is worth it when the existing hub is cracked, the keyway is wallowed out or the teeth show measurable hook wear that shortens chain life.
The 1/2 in pitch fixes the tooth geometry, so the sprocket cannot mesh with 3/8 in or 5/8 in chains. The fixed 7/8 in bore and single keyway prevent use on larger shafts or on applications that demand a split hub or a different keyway width.

The sprocket accepts a 7/8 in shaft with a 3/16 in keyway; two set screws lock it in place.
Slide it onto the shaft, align the key in the keyway, then tighten both set screws — skipping the second screw is the common error.
Replace when chain stretch exceeds the 1/2 in pitch tolerance or when the 26 teeth show visible hooking or thinning.
