What this product is

This two-pack contains black toner cartridges built to replace HP 58A CF258A units. Each cartridge delivers approximately 3000 pages at 5% coverage. The set fits LaserJet Pro M404 and M428 series printers. It is suited for offices or home users who print mostly monochrome documents and want a lower-cost alternative to original supplies.

Thermals noise and power

Toner cartridges have no moving parts, fans or electrical draw of their own. They add no audible noise and no measurable heat beyond what the printer already produces. Power consumption remains exactly as specified by the printer manufacturer. There are no thermal or acoustic considerations when swapping these cartridges.

Bundled accessories and software

The package includes only the two toner cartridges. No drum units, waste-toner bottles, cleaning cloths or installation tools are supplied. No software, drivers or firmware updates accompany the product. Printers recognise the cartridges through their existing firmware, so no extra configuration is required.

Questions about this item

How do I install the CF258A cartridge in my LaserJet Pro M404dn, and what step do people often miss?

Open the front cover, pull the old cartridge straight out, remove the orange protective strip from the new CF258A, rock it gently side-to-side five times, then slide it in until it clicks — the strip removal is the step most often skipped.

What maintenance or replacement will the CF258A two-pack need after the 3000-page yield at 5% coverage is reached?

When print density fades or the printer signals low toner, replace the empty CF258A cartridge with the second one from the pack; no drum unit or separate maintenance kit is required for these LaserJet Pro M404 and M428 models.

What limit appears first during a long, continuous print run with the CF258A in an M428fdw?

The 3000-page yield at 5% coverage is the first limit; after that toner is depleted and the cartridge must be swapped, while the printer’s own duty cycle and fuser life are far higher.
