Ubiquiti Networks AI Key video recorder 16 GB 256 GB

AI Edge Appliance for UniFi Protect

The Ubiquiti AI Key is an edge AI appliance that enhances UniFi Protect deployments with proactive threat detection and alerting. It integrates an Arm Cortex-A78AE v8.2 processor, 16 GB of LPDDR5 system memory, and 256 GB of on-board SSD storage in a compact form factor. The device is powered via PoE++ within a 50-57V range and draws a maximum of 45W. A 1.3-inch touchscreen LCM display provides local status information.

Suited for AI-Enhanced Surveillance

This appliance suits administrators who want to add AI-driven smart detection to existing UniFi Protect cameras without replacing them. It handles up to 1,800 smart detection events per hour, making it appropriate for sites with moderate to high camera counts. Buyers who need a standalone network video recorder with built-in storage bays or support for non-UniFi cameras should look elsewhere. It also requires a PoE++ switch or injector capable of delivering sufficient power.

Sustained Detection Throughput

Under continuous load, the AI Key maintains its rated throughput of 1,800 smart detections per hour rather than bursting to a higher peak. The Arm Cortex-A78AE architecture and 16 GB LPDDR5 memory provide consistent inference performance for extended periods. Passive cooling within the 134.2 x 131.2 x 33.7 mm chassis manages the 45W thermal envelope without active fans. Ethernet management ensures stable connectivity for prolonged analysis sessions.
