WiFi 7 client adapter with STR MLO

The Ubiquiti AirWire is a WiFi 7 media bridge that uses simultaneous transmit-receive multi-link operation to create full-duplex links. It targets installers who need multi-gigabit wireless backhaul for remote cameras, access points, or wired devices without running cable. Four spatial streams and a directional super-antenna system aim to triple usable range versus standard clients.

Dedicated scanning radio and Auto-Link

A built-in scanning radio provides real-time spectrum analytics so installers can pick the cleanest channel before locking the link. UniFi Auto-Link onboards the unit instantly and securely when it is adopted by a UniFi controller, removing manual configuration steps. The USB 3.2 Gen 2 interface carries the 5 GbE port and accepts USB PD at 5, 9, or 12 V in both standard and enhanced power modes.

Compact directional form factor

The square 117 mm enclosure weighs 544 g and houses 11 dBi gain antennas on both 6 GHz and 5 GHz bands with up to 20 dBm and 25 dBm transmit power respectively. A single 5 GbE port on USB 3.2 Gen 2 provides the wired uplink, so no separate power brick is required when a compliant PD source is available. Maximum draw is 18 W.

Questions about this item

Does the USB PD power supply need replacement after a certain period?

The unit draws up to 18 W and accepts USB PD at 5/9/12 V, 15 W standard or 20 W enhanced mode, so any compatible PD source can replace the original supply if it fails.

What limits throughput first during a long 6 GHz transfer at 320 MHz bandwidth?

The 5 GbE port (USB 3.2 Gen 2) caps wired output at 5 Gbps while the 6 GHz radio can reach 5.8 Gbps, so the Ethernet link becomes the bottleneck.

How much heat does the adapter produce when running continuously at maximum throughput?

Maximum power consumption is 18 W, so sustained operation dissipates roughly that much heat; the 117 × 117 × 42.5 mm enclosure has no active cooling.
