Product Identity

The Ubiquiti Networks NS-5AC is a 5 GHz wireless access point delivering 450 Mbit/s throughput using MIMO technology. It integrates the radio and antenna into a compact, pole-mountable form factor designed for efficient broadband CPE deployment. The unit runs airOS 8 and includes a 24 V, 0.5 A Gigabit PoE supply in the package.

Target Audience

This device suits installers building point-to-point or point-to-multipoint links in the 5 GHz band who want an all-in-one radio and antenna with TDMA protocol support. Buyers who need dual-band operation, separate antenna flexibility, or management features not provided by airOS 8 should consider other solutions.

Deciding Specification

The 5 GHz operating frequency combined with 450 Mbit/s MIMO throughput determines whether this access point matches the link budget and capacity requirements of the planned wireless deployment.

Questions about this item

How does the 450 Mbit/s rating translate to actual throughput in a real installation?

The 450 Mbit/s figure is the maximum physical-layer rate under ideal conditions; real-world throughput will be lower due to overhead, interference and link distance.

What does the 802.11ac standard cap in practice for this unit?

802.11ac limits the radio to a single 5 GHz spatial stream, so the 450 Mbit/s ceiling cannot be exceeded regardless of channel width or client capability.

Which included power option should I use for the NS-5AC?

The box ships with a 24 V 0.5 A Gigabit PoE injector; connect the AP to the injector’s data-out port and the injector to your switch or router.
