Product Identity

This is a five-pack of Ubiquiti Networks PowerBeam 5AC Gen 2 units. Each device is a high-performance 5 GHz point-to-point bridge with an integrated dish reflector and InnerFeed radio design for customer-premises equipment deployments.

Deployment Fit

The hardware suits installers building long-range wireless links who need integrated surge protection, tool-free assembly and a management Wi-Fi radio for mobile setup. Buyers needing omnidirectional coverage or indoor access-point density should look elsewhere because the hardware is a directional bridge.

Deciding Specification

The operating frequency is 5.0 GHz and the supported standard is IEEE 802.11ac. These two figures determine whether the bridge matches the spectrum plan and compatibility requirements of the target network.

Questions about this item

Is the five-pack the only way to buy the PBE-5AC-Gen2-5 or can I order a single unit?

The listing is supplied as a five-pack of PowerBeam 5AC radios; individual units are not offered under this SKU.

What real-world throughput can I expect from the 5.0 GHz 802.11ac link?

The integrated InnerFeed radio and airMAX AC engine deliver high throughput and low latency for point-to-point bridging, with performance limited by the 5.0 GHz 802.11ac physical layer.

Does the dish antenna use a standard Wi-Fi interface or a proprietary airMAX protocol?

It runs Ubiquiti's proprietary airMAX AC TDMA protocol over the 5.0 GHz band and also includes a separate management Wi-Fi radio for mobile setup.
