Discreet indoor surveillance

The Ubiquiti Networks R11 is an 8 MP covert camera designed for indoor monitoring. It connects via 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi or a wired link, and accepts 100 to 240 V AC power at 50 or 60 Hz. The black fixed-lens unit ships as a single add-on camera for existing security systems.

Resolution and lens fixed at 1080P

The sensor captures 8 MP stills, yet the streaming output is limited to 1080P high-definition video. A fixed board lens means the field of view cannot be adjusted optically. Buyers who need motorised zoom, varifocal control or higher streaming resolution should choose a different model.

Passive cooling on mains power

The camera draws power directly from a 100 to 240 V AC supply with no external adapter, so heat is dissipated through the enclosure itself. No fan is present, making operation silent in normal use. Continuous recording and night-vision illumination keep power draw steady within the rated mains range.

Questions about this item

Will the 8 MP sensor actually give me 4K video on my NVR?

The camera captures 8 megapixel stills but streams at 1080P HD resolution, so recordings will be 1080P not 4K.

Does the 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi link limit the bitrate I can record at?

The 2.4 GHz band caps real-world throughput well below wired Ethernet, so sustained high-bitrate streams may drop frames.

What mounting hardware do I need to install this covert indoor unit?

The package contains only the camera; no bracket or screws are included, so you must supply a suitable surface mount.
