Ubiquiti Networks TOUGHCable PRO TC-PRO 1000' Outdoor Shielded Ethernet Cable

SKU CH-SCJ5-EBXVS

1000-foot outdoor shielded CAT5e Ethernet cable on a spool for direct burial and aerial runs

  • Outdoor-rated jacket protects against weather exposure
  • Shielded construction reduces electromagnetic interference in noisy environments
  • 1000 foot length enables long-distance runs without splices
  • CAT5e performance supports gigabit network speeds
  • Black colour blends with building exteriors for discreet installation

Outdoor shielded CAT5e cable

The Ubiquiti Networks TOUGHCable PRO is a 1000-foot bulk Ethernet cable built for outdoor installations. Its shielded construction and black jacket resist weather and electromagnetic interference. Installers pull it between buildings or to exterior access points without conduit. The solid conductors meet CAT5e performance requirements for gigabit links.

Level 1 shielding and RJ45 compatibility

The Level 1 shield wraps each pair to reduce crosstalk and external noise on long runs. Male-to-male RJ45 connectors terminate directly into standard ports without adapters. The 1000-foot reel lets technicians cut exact lengths for each drop. A one-year limited warranty covers manufacturing defects on the cable assembly.

CAT5e bandwidth and distance limits

CAT5e supports 1 Gbps up to 100 metres, so segments longer than that need intermediate switches or a higher-category cable. The 304.8-metre reel exceeds the single-link distance, requiring planning for signal regeneration. Shielding adds stiffness that makes tight bends harder than with unshielded cable. Outdoor UV exposure will degrade the jacket over time.

Questions about this item

Will the shielded CAT5e jacket need replacement after prolonged UV exposure?

The cable uses a Level 1 outdoor-rated jacket designed for direct burial and UV resistance, so replacement for weathering is not expected under normal conditions.

What distance limit applies to this 1000-foot reel for gigabit Ethernet?

CAT5e specification supports 1000 Mbps up to 100 metres; runs longer than that will drop to 100 Mbps or require intermediate switches.

Does the foil shield increase heat buildup when PoE devices draw full power all day?

The shield is a thin foil layer that does not restrict airflow; heat rise matches unshielded CAT5e and stays within normal operating temperature for continuous PoE loads.
