Mesh-Ready WiFi 7 Gateway

The UniFi Express 7 is a compact cloud gateway with built-in WiFi 7, delivering tri-band wireless coverage across 160 square metres. It supports up to 300 simultaneous client connections and includes a stateful firewall with application-aware Layer 7 filtering, intrusion prevention and content filtering. The unit measures 117 by 117 by 42.5 millimetres and operates without licence fees for SD-WAN functionality.

Home and Small Business Deployments

This gateway suits households or small offices that want high-density WiFi 7 access and advanced security features in a single desktop device. Mesh scaling allows additional units to extend coverage without wiring each back to the router. Buyers who need rack-mount form factors, PoE output ports or multi-gigabit LAN density beyond the integrated wireless radios should evaluate other UniFi gateways.

10 Gigabit Cloud Gateway Core

The defining specification is the 10 Gbps cloud gateway throughput that powers routing, VPN and security processing before traffic reaches the wireless radios. This capacity determines whether the appliance can sustain full-speed WAN links and concurrent Site-to-Site, WireGuard or Teleport VPN tunnels while running DPI and QoS. If the upstream connection or aggregate VPN demand exceeds this ceiling, a higher-tier gateway is required.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the 117 x 117 mm UniFi Express 7 and what is the step installers often miss?

Place the gateway on a flat surface or wall-mount using the screw holes; the step often missed is adopting it in the UniFi Network application before configuring the 10G WAN link.

Which component will need replacement first on the UX7-US?

The integrated Wi-Fi 7 radio and 10G gateway are sealed with no user-serviceable parts; plan to replace the entire unit if hardware fails.

What throughput limit appears first on the 6 GHz band during sustained heavy use?

The 6 GHz radio tops out at 5.7 Gbps aggregated throughput, so that ceiling is reached before the 10G WAN port saturates.
