60 GHz PtMP access point for up to 15 users

The Ubiquiti Networks Wave AP Micro is a wide-coverage 60 GHz point-to-multipoint access point built on Wave Technology. It supports up to 15 connected users and operates in the 57–71 GHz band with channel bandwidths of 2160, 1080, or 540 MHz. A 5 GHz weatherproof backup radio provides additional link resilience. The unit is designed for outdoor mounting and managed through the UISP application.

Outdoor-rated thermal range and passive PoE power

The access point operates reliably from -40 to 60 °C (-40 to 140 °F) in 5 to 95 % non-condensing humidity without active cooling. Power is delivered via PoE through the single 2.5 GbE RJ45 port, eliminating the need for a separate power supply at the mount point. The quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor at 1.4 GHz and 512 MB DDR3L memory handle routing and Wave AI tasks within this thermal envelope.

Sector coverage and backup radio change deployment

The integrated 90 ° sector antenna defines the service area, while the 5 GHz backup radio adds up to 800 Mbps throughput if the 60 GHz link degrades. A factory reset button and multi-colour LED status indicators assist with installation and troubleshooting. The package includes the mounting hardware required for outdoor pole or wall attachment, and the UISP software provides ping watchdog, NTP client, and discovery protocol services.

Questions about this item

How do I mount the Wave AP Micro for a 6 km outdoor link and what alignment step is often missed?

Mount the unit outdoors using the integrated bracket, aim the 90° sector toward the client radios, then use the UISP discovery protocol and flashing-blue locate mode to fine-tune azimuth and elevation before locking the hardware.

Which components will need attention after extended outdoor deployment?

The PoE injector and RJ45 port seals should be inspected periodically; the quad-core ARM Cortex-A53 processor and 512 MB DDR3L memory have no user-serviceable parts, and the 5 GHz backup radio requires no scheduled maintenance.

What throughput limit appears first when the sector is fully loaded with 24 clients?

The aggregate 5 Gbps ceiling (2.5 Gbps duplex) on the 60 GHz radio is reached before the single 2.5 GbE WAN port or the 800 Mbps 5 GHz backup radio become bottlenecks.
