Lightweight 60 GHz PtMP Station

The Wave Pico is a compact 60 GHz point-to-multipoint station designed for wireless ISPs and network builders who need high-capacity links without the bulk of larger dishes. It delivers up to 2 Gbps aggregate throughput with 1 Gbps full-duplex performance and includes a 5 GHz weatherproof backup radio rated at 800 Mbps for redundancy when rain fade affects the primary band.

57–71 GHz Band and Channel Constraints

The radio operates in the 57–71 GHz range, though available spectrum depends on local regulatory rules. Channel widths of 2160, 1080 and 540 MHz are supported on firmware 3.3.0 or later, with specific centre frequencies such as 58320, 59400 and 60480 MHz. The 60 GHz signal requires clear line of sight and is limited to 1.3 km to a Wave AP or 0.9 km to a Wave AP Micro, making it unsuitable for non-line-of-sight deployments or longer-haul links.

Pole-Mount Install with Passive PoE

The unit weighs 347 g without the supplied mount and 409 g with it, measuring Ø152.1 x 55.8 mm for easy pole attachment. A single GbE RJ45 port accepts 4-pair or 2-pair passive PoE at 44–54 V DC, and a 48 V 0.5 A gigabit PoE adapter is included. Installers must ensure the PoE injector matches the required pinout (1,2+; 3,6- and 4,5+; 7,8-) because incorrect polarity or voltage will prevent the device from powering on.

Questions about this item

How do I pick between the Wave Pico and the Wave AP Micro for my PtMP deployment?

Choose the Wave Pico for a 1.3 km maximum link range and 2 Gbps total throughput, or the Wave AP Micro for a 0.9 km range if the shorter reach fits your cell plan.

What does the 2 Gbps throughput figure mean once the unit is installed?

It is the maximum aggregate throughput across the 60 GHz link, delivered as 1 Gbps full-duplex over the single GbE RJ45 port.

How does the 57–71 GHz band and 2160 MHz channel width cap real-world performance?

The 60 GHz band supports up to 2160 MHz channels for the 2 Gbps peak, while the 5 GHz backup radio provides an 800 Mbps fallback when rain fade affects the primary link.
