Questions about this item

What force does the 196 N gas strut provide in practice?

Each strut delivers 44 lbs of force, holding a lid or hatch of that weight in the open position without additional support.

What mounting-hole pattern and hardware are required to fit the 12 inch strut?

The brackets use 10 mm by 6 mm slots and the kit includes 3 mm diameter screws for direct attachment.

How is the strut installed and what common mistake should be avoided?

Mount the brackets with the supplied screws, then attach the strut; do not compress the rod by hand before installation as it only compresses once fitted.
