Electrical insulation tape

This 15 mm wide polyester film tape provides 5.5 kV breakdown voltage and a 94V-0 flammability rating for transformer, motor and capacitor winding. The acrylic adhesive withstands 130 °C continuous temperature and resists solvents and moisture. Supplied as a 50 m roll with 0.06 mm or 0.08 mm substrate thickness.

For electrical assembly and repair

Suits technicians insulating coil windings, splicing magnet wire or wrapping high-voltage components where thermal class 130 and 5.5 kV dielectric strength are required. Not for buyers needing wider tapes, longer lengths or higher voltage ratings than the stated 5.5 kV.

5.5 kV breakdown voltage

This single figure confirms whether the tape meets the dielectric requirement of the specific winding or component being insulated. If the design calls for a higher withstand voltage, this roll will not satisfy the specification.

Questions about this item

Will the 15 mm wide roll fit my standard tape dispenser?

The roll is 15 mm wide, so it fits any dispenser that accepts a 15 mm core width.

How do I apply the tape so the acrylic adhesive bonds properly?

Clean the surface, then press the tape firmly; the acrylic adhesive needs full contact to reach its rated peel strength.

When should I replace tape used for 130 °C transformer insulation?

Inspect regularly; replace the tape if the polyester film discolours, cracks, or loses adhesion after prolonged 130 °C exposure.
